Ms. Irene Mathyssen (London—Fanshawe, NDP): Mr. Speaker, I present a petition on behalf of the Duchess of Kent Legion, Branch 263. The Legion has fallen into financial difficulty with the Canada Revenue Agency due to a theft of GST funds by a former employee.

Mathyssen Introduces "Made In Canada" Legislation

OTTAWA –

Today, Irene Mathyssen (London Fanshawe) introduced legislation that will ensure that Canadian companies are given priority when the federal government makes purchases or acquires services.

The “Made in Canada” bill will require the government to purchase products or acquire services from Canadian companies or individuals. Exceptions are made if there are no Canadian bidders or if the procurement falls under international trade agreements.
